2023-06-21 No Wind Day
Today started as all the others with Dog River for Coffee, and then Bette's for breakfast, although a few went elsewhere.
Temira's forecast was for ZERO wind, so some of the group decided to go golfing while others decided on a bike ride.
Brad, Blaine, Andreas and Big Air Jim decided to go golfing. They went to the Indian Creek Golf Course. Brad said it is a bit difficult, but a beautiful course with great greens - very civilized. A good time was had by all, and they consumed a fair amount of food after the game, which I hear was also excellent.
Cam. Cynthia, Handré and I did the Rowena Lookout ride. Cam and Cynthia toughed it out on gravel bikes, while Handré and I had E-Bikes. It was a spectacular day with incredible scenery as usual! On the way up, we met Big Jim on his way back. He had gone ahead of us because he had a zoom meeting early in the afternoon! He said he had a great ride and really liked his E-Bike!

Gerry washed his truck, and Mike went for a mountain bike ride on his new E-Bike Mountain bike ride. Mike went 40k plus up into the mountains so Kent was really glad he passed and did not have to keep up with the e-machine!
Bernd stayed close to the condo because he had a couple of meetings he had to participate in.
I stopped at the Event Site on the way back from the ride. Kent was there, cleaning out his tool box and tinkering with the outhaul on his new FR sails. He said if I went back to the condo and got the crib board he would challenge me to a game.
When I got back to the condo, after a shower, I started organizing my stuff and I pulled all of Louise's gear (and bike) out of the storage garage so it would be easier to pack. With all the trips back and forth, I slipped the house keys into my pocket....
When I was done, I rode down to the Event Site with the crib board and a couple of beers. Pretty well everyone was there, enjoying the beautiful warm evening and watching the E-Foilers out on the water.

During the third game there was a call from Andreas asking how he could get into the condo. Bernd was quick to check and confirmed that he did not have the keys so I stood up, put my hands in the pockets, and came out with the keys... Bernd took the keys up to the boys using my bike. Good thing we were close or I would never live this down...

We hung out at the event site until 7pm when we finally gave up on the wind for today. Cynthia was convinced that the wind would come up and even threatened to rig her 6.0 sail. It took a long time to figure out where we were going to go for supper. Some of us were starving by this time (7:30ish) while others were still full from late lunch at either the Moiser taco stand or the golf course. We eventually decided on Double Mountain. The food and company were excellent! Big air Jim carried a beer into the restaurant. While walking with beer in the street is perfectly fine in Hoodriver it is against the rules to carry your own open beer into a restaurant. The waitress was great! She just walked around Jim and said I'll take that and the beer was gone! She was so smooth Jim didn't notice until a few minutes later!
I left around 8:30 to work on this blog, but the others stayed for a "few" more beers, and maybe another pizza or two.
All in all it was a really good day - for no wind.
