The day started early for Ross and I, as I drove him to the airport for his 10:45am flight home. I got back to the condo at 10. The lemmings were trying to decide where to go - Maybe Rufus, and maybe Roosevelt. Kent and I left and drove to Bigs where we got gas. By then, the group had decided on Rufus, so we had a short drive to get there.
It was fairly windy with a big current. I went out on my 3.5 wing and 799 foil and had a great session for about a half hour, until the wind backed off. I started struggling getting up, and getting going. Very frustrating. I would get foiling on a gust, and make it part way back downwind, but then the wind would die and I would fall in and loose my ground because of the current. I ended up with a bit of a self rescue, and a long walk home.
Kent had a great day! He sailed 52km and was able to handle the gusts and get through the lulls. AT one point, Dale Cook went flying through on a Wing. He had started at Mary Hill, and sailed way downwind of Rufus, and back.

Everyone was out with pretty well the smallest gear that they own. There were big gusts, and big lulls.
Handre said he did 3km before he gave up. He was either blasting on his windsurfer, or sitting in the water.

As the day wore on, the lulls got bigger, and the gusts either stayed the same or got bigger.
Bernd said it was an "Interesting Day", and Andreas said it was hard kite foiling - "worst day ever", although he made it look pretty good.
Gerry stopped for a look at Rufus, but then decided to join Mike in Roosevelt.
Brad had a close call. He was in a lull trying to stay on the foil when a big gust hit him sending his gear flying. His front foil hit the back of his harness, then cut through his wetsuit. Fortunately, he only had a small scratch on his back. Very lucky! Good thing he had his harness and wetsuit on!

Mike had camped at Roosevelt overnight, so sailed there. He said it was very windy!
Being Fathers day, most of the restaurants were very busy. I think a few of us went to Three Rivers. Big Jim, Handre, Brad, Blaine, Kent and I went to Pietro's Pizza for supper. It was actually pretty good!
Back at the Condo we watched Day \One of Sail GP.
