2023-06-17 Roosevelt - The Gang is all here.

handre and Bernd

Brad and Blaine got up early (8ish) and headed directly to Roosevelt to join Mike and Gerry.  Others (Jim, Andreas and Bernd) went to Dog River, others went shopping.

Eventually everyone made there way to Roosevelt.  I got there around 11:00.  Mike and Gerry were there watching the wind build, but none of our group were out yet.

Everyone got out, and everyone had a great day.  Cynthia started on a 3.2 and changed to a 2.5.  Brad was on a 3.8, and then changed to a 2.7.

I went out on a 4.5 wing and my 899 foil and had the best sail of the trip.  I was really enjoying the swells on the far side, doing S-Turns down the waves.  After lunch I went out again, and was way overpowered.  I made it work until I crashed and my rear foil stabilizer punched through my wing.  Oops..  Fortunately I was able to sail it back with no further damage!

Bernd was out on his 7m kite and had a great sail and was skimming across the waves in the gusts, barely touching the water.  Andreas had a great day doing big jumps.

Mike had a great day on his kite - until he didn't.....    He was out late in the day for a late sail.  When he came in, he didn't quite make it.  He started to swim in, and to gather his kite lines, but then the wind picked up with a big off-shore component.  He ended up drifting out and then down wind until he got his kite deflated and he was able to swim to shore.  We all watched, feeling helpless, because there wasn't much we could do to help.  Blaine and Brad drove down and picked him up so at least he didn't have to walk back.

Kent and Gerry

Kent, Blaine, Brad, Andreas, and Cam spent a lot of time down at Arlington enjoying the big surf.   The local finners had to watch the foilers having fun since the lulls were a hair too low.

We ran into our friend Andy, that Kent and I had met in La Ventana.  He told me he has tried winging a bit, but most of the time he is windsurfing.

Unfortunately, Ross is still hurting, and has decided he will head home tomorrow.

We were late getting back form Roosevelt, so everyone did their own thing for supper.

Early to bed - another great day.

Look who I ran in to - Andy from La Ventana!

Can - First time on a 3.0 Wing!

Enjoying a rest after a great Day!

Bernd and Ted

Mike was a long way out, and a long way downwind!
